PROCESS ENGINEER

We are looking for a Process Engineer for Technical Department team, responsible for engineering at Cartagena industrial complex.

The Challenge

The position should provide her/his expertise and support to work in the front-end phase of a project (technical studies) and develop basic and detailed engineering to improve EHS, Maintenance, Quality and Productivity aspects of the different plants in SABIC industrial facilities in Cartagena (Spain). This involves working closely with operations, maintenance and project engineering teams, Technology & Innovation teams and different disciplines experts, as well as with operation and functional department managers.

Suitable candidate must be adept at communicating their ideas and findings to workers, team members, colleagues, clients, and management. She/he is called upon to drive company improvement efforts and sell others on why modifications and new approaches to processes should replace old methods and may provide support to our Manufacturing Departments on issue resolution and process improvement.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Fulfill their role in the Technology Application Management work process
  • Provides Technical and Troubleshooting support to the Operations teams as required.
  • Provides input to the Unit Technology plans (by working with the PAL) and develops the technical scope of related projects (FEL1 for P&E projects) as well as the justification (evaluation of benefits).
  • Monitor implementation progress of projects in the UTP, assessing the actual benefits obtained versus plan and documenting technical reasons for deviations. Interact effectively with the Quad teams in order to reconcile operating activities with project performance.
  • Perform feasibility studies in order to assist in formulating the correct strategy and approach for key technical issues when required.
  • Ensure that best process engineering practices are applied.
  • Owner of the management of changes (MOC) to process conditions for a given plant/area ensuring that the change adequately considers the implications and potential risk.
  • Define protocols for plant trials and optimization work for use by the operation teams.
  • Assist with benchmarking analysis in order define the opportunities in the Units.
  • Mentoring and assisting in technical training.
  • Leading/participating in process safety and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) teams.
Requisitos:
  • Titulación: MSc/PhD degree in Chemical Engineering (other disciplines considered depending on experience).
  • Experiencia:
    • Minimum 4-5 years in chemical or related industry experience.
    • Experienced in chemical engineering process calculation and design.
    • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
  • Idioma: Fluent in written and oral English and Spanish. (ALTE C1 o superior)
  • Informática: Advanced user Microsoft Office. Chemical Process Simulation softwares.
  • Competencias:
    • Knowledge and experience on Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal, organizational, and matrix working skills at all levels (operations, maintenance, engineering, management and equipment suppliers). Present information and ideas in an articulate and organized way.
    • Maintain an effective network of relevant internal and external stakeholders and experts.
    • Demonstrated results and track record for delivering on commitments.
